Mountain
Biking
The Chamonix
area is famed for its mountain biking trails, and the
most popular regions are La Tour, Contamines, Les Gets
and Morzine. You can get free mountain
biking trail guide from the Chamonix
Tourist Office. Mountain bike rental is easy either from
near the chalet, or in Chamonix
town. You can choose
from all levels of bike, so can get a suitable frame and
suspension for your prefered types of descents (or ascents).
Cable cars in the Chamonix
valley are very bike friendly, so no worries if you want
to avoid any uphill
all week! |

Canyonning...
There are many gorges and ravines
close to Chamonix
that are great for canyonning. A mountain Guide is the
leader for the day, and they
can take up to six clients (depending on the
grade of the canyonning descent). Based on this ratio,
the cost per person is £50 per person, which
includes all transport, the cost of the Guide for the
day, and the rental of a wetsuit and helmet. A
very popular first canyonning descent is the Emmosson
river on the
border with Switzerland. |

Paragliding
All our paragliding flights are
organised by Alain, who
is both a Mountain Guide and Paragliding Instructor, not
to mention that he has also climbed Everest! The most
popular flight for a first time is from Planpraz in the
Aiguilles Rouges, down to Chamonix.
The flight lasts approximately 30 minutes, and you get
amazing views across to Mont Blanc and the Aiguille du
Midi. The price for this flight
is c.100 Euros, and included the
use of all the equipment and pilots costs. For other flight
details, see our main website paragliding page. |

White
Water Rafting...
The river in Chamonix
is fairly quiet, but descend towards Le Fayet, and it
becomes a white water rapid, as does the river running
through Courmayeur on the
Italian side of Mont Blanc. A full day in Italy or France,
with transportation and equipment (buoyancy aid etc) costs
c.100 Euros each. This really is a day to remember, and
you will be taken to the best rapids, under the
watchful
eye of a qualified white water instructor. The price can
be lowered if there is a large group of six or more, so
contact us for more details. |
