British
Mountain Guides (BMG) |
|
|
All
the Alpine climbing and skiing courses offered by
Icicle, and all courses involving glacier travel,
are led by qualified International Mountain Guides.
The UK association of international mountain guides
is called the British Mountain Guides (BMG). |
|
Internationally
many countries have guide associations, and the
umbrella organisation is the International Federation
of Mountain Guide Associations (IFMGA). All full
guides hold the international IFMGA carnet for guiding,
and are entitled to wear the medal / badge of the
IFMGA. |
|
The
BMG is the national association which trains and
assesses mountain guides in climbing, mountaineering,
and off piste skiing and touring. It also sets out
the professional standards required for services
offered by BMG members, and promotes general good
practice advice for the mountains. |
|
The
IFMGA is the umbrella organisation that coordinates
the standards and mutual recognition between the
twenty six member national mountain guide associations
across the world. As it says on the front page of
the BMG website "IFMGA Mountain Guides are
the most qualified and experienced professionals
to lead people in the mountains with a training
and assessment that takes many years and exceptional
skills to achieve". |
|
Icicle
has been fortunate to have several BMG guides working
for them over the years, and we are always happy
and keen to work with more in the future, so if
you are a BMG member looking for any work, then
please don't hesitate to get in touch via the Mountain
Guide Jobs page of the Icicle
website. |

IFMGA International Mountain Guides. It is

the mountains. Click on the logo for more

Mountain Guides association, whose website
