Alpine snowshoeing days 2017
Chamonix / Martigny / Courmayeur snowshoeing
Snowshoeing in the Aravis, near Chamonix
Course overview

Icicle is a real specialist in snowshoe guiding. We offer private guiding for groups and individuals, in one of the following resorts; Chamonix, Martigny or Courmayeur. You spend the day(s) near one of these resort bases where you are staying, snowshoeing classic routes. If you would like to join a group, then please consider our Best of Mont Blanc week or one of our other scheduled snowshoe trips.

If you would prefer private guiding for yourself or a group, then here we offer private guiding package, and you can book online via our secured system, and you are sent immediate confirmation and details of the clothing and equipment you should pack.
Meet your guide for a briefing, equipment checks, snowshoe fitting, and a weather and safety briefing. Set off by bus / train / car along the valley to the start of the trek. You quickly master the use of snowshoes and then off you go! Full days typically meet at 09:00 and are up to 7 hours in duration.
Snowshoe guides can lead a maximum of six people per guide in a group. There are no minimum numbers, so as soon as you book, your trip is guaranteed to run, as this is bespoke guiding just for you so you aren't sharing the guiding with anyone else.
The price is for the cost of guiding, and the provision of snowshoes. You will be equipped with safety kit such as avalanche tranceivers, shovel and probe, and the leader will carry a full first aid kit, emergency radio / phone, and a group shelter.
The use of a cable car is generally not required, as we always head to less frequented areas where the terrain is rolling nordic style ground, either on a non-glaciated part of a mountain, or in the forests. If you or the leader opts for a cable car, you need to buy your ticket.

Bernese Mountain Dog Moonlight trek & fondue
If the group would like, you can be accompanied for the day by a beautiful local Bernese mountain dog (is there any other kind?) and their handler who will guide you. There are few things more magical than an evening snowshoeing through the silent snowy forests by moonlight, with the stars twinkling in the night sky.
We use fully trained snowshoe dogs that are very well looked after and cared for. Prices for this are the same as for scheduled days or for private groups, so you pay no extra for this unique experience. You finish your trek at a mountain gite and try local Alpine dishes such as fondue. Price £60 each (based on 4 min, 6 max). These trips need to be booked at least two weeks in advance for availability.
The dog breed originates from the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland, near the Eiger. You meet your guide at 18:00, and you return to town at around 21:00. Available Courmayeur / Chamonix.

Client feedback

A great choice of bases that we stayed in that gave us access to brilliant snowshoe treks and summits. Thank you for all the organisation and the top guiding.

Please pass on my thanks to Kingsley who guided us, for looking after us so well, and his incredible local knowledge. We will be back next year for more!

Babs S , 3 Countries Snowshoe

Thank you for organising this trip for us. We enjoyed snowshoeing in three different countries so much, and the accommodation was amazingly varied in a very good way
